The Iowa Department of Corrections (IDOC) is committed to providing a wide range of services to incarcerated individuals, including education, job training, and mental health treatment. These programs are designed to help offenders develop the skills they need to succeed upon release and reintegrate into their communities.
Our comprehensive approach includes vocational training, GED preparation, and substance abuse counseling. We also offer cognitive behavioral therapy and other forms of evidence-based treatment to address underlying issues that may have contributed to an individual's incarceration.
Once an individual has completed their sentence and is released from incarceration, IDOC continues to provide support through our Reentry Program. This program offers a range of services, including housing assistance, employment counseling, and access to healthcare and mental health treatment.
Our goal is to ensure that individuals have the resources they need to successfully reintegrate into their communities and avoid recidivism. We work closely with community partners to provide a continuum of care that addresses the unique needs of each individual.
In addition to our institutional programs, IDOC also offers community-based services that provide support to offenders and their families. These programs include parenting classes, substance abuse treatment, and counseling services.
Our community-based programs are designed to address the root causes of criminal behavior and promote positive change in individuals and families. By providing these services, we can help break the cycle of recidivism and create safer, healthier communities.
